September is a graduation season in Japan, just like April. I wondered how to say “Congratulations on your graduation!” in Japanese Sign Language (JSL), so I looked it up and decided to share it here!
One of my friends graduated just the other day. I hadn’t realized it was September, so I was a little surprised when I went over to congratulate her, but I couldn’t express it in JSL right away 😢
With that in mind, I’d like to introduce how to say “Congratulations on your graduation!” It’s expressed by performing the two signs for “graduation” and “congratulations” in succession.
- Graduation
Bow with both hands turned inward, as if receiving a diploma.

- Congratulations
Start with both hands clasped upward, then open them and move them upward like fireworks.

Once again, “Congratulations on your graduation!” ✨ ✨ ✨ ㊗️ 🎉 🍾 🎉 ㊗️ ✨ ✨ ✨
